Exchange Error message stoppind Send/Receive

So, just installed Office 2007 lol.

 

Now when I try Send/Receive from Outlook 2007 I get the following error:

 

Task 'Microsoft Exchange Server - Sending and Receiving' reported error (0x80040102) : "The requested operation cannot be completed on this account"

 

Any ideas?

Funny that my copy of Outlook 2007 at work syncs perfectly with our Exchange 2003 server then. Funny that Outlook 2000 and XP works with it too (not tried Outlook 98 or 97 as we don't have them any more ) At my previous workplace, Outlook 2000 and XP worked perfectly well with an old Exchange 5 server. Microsoft don't force you into any kind of upgrade cycle.

Norphy, i think you took my reply a bit too seriously, i was having a sideways jab at the fact Microsoft always market from the approach of "well if you want to do this and this, you need to upgrade this and this"

 

For example, exchange 12 has to run on a 64 bit system, so you have to upgrade the OS and have x64 hardware (thankfully nearly all modern servers running are Xeons(EM64T) or AMD64 platform making one less problem.

 

XP is another good example too, if you want to be patched, you must install SP1 or 2, forcing you to have to deploy a SP you might not want to install.

 

But this is all a moot point, we are off topic.

No but noone is making you run them are they?

Yes, security is. MS doesn't patch things after X years unless you pay them money. For example, Windows Update forces you to update to IE6. It wont offer updates for older versions of IE (infact I don't think it even works).

The illustration was that if I wished to run IE7 or Office2007 I would be forced into paying to update Windows and windows server. Currently we've payed outright for server 2000 and get security updates until 2010.

 

Whether or not we'll be forced into upgrading to office 2007 is a different story... but most likely we will eventually, think of all those edu applications that require MS office. think of edexcel who issued an excel macro for an A2exam yesterday that was written for office 2003 and bugged in office 2000. MS has such a poor reputation for backwards compatiblity of office documents they effectively force upgrades, it is their strategy.
