We have a DAVIS VP2 Plus Weather Envoy system up & running, we installed it last summer.

The Plus version comes with solar and UV sensors, these are VERY expensive to buy as add-ons later, they are much cheaper if they are bought as part of the Plus package. We also purchased our ISS with the optional 12-hour Fan Assisted Radiation Shield(FARS) system. When we bought ours last year I think we paid around £1000-£1100 ex vat.

The DAVIS products are very good quality, designed for semi-professional use. Very reliable.

We have an old DELL GX60 connected to the Weather Envoy system (via Weatherlink USB datalogger). This is sat on a shelf in our main office, it talks via wireless to the ISS which is sat on a pole outside. The GX60 runs WeatherDisplay Live which feeds our school website.

We bought our system from Weathershop.co.uk, they were very good & offered sound advice about what to buy. Another place to look at is skyview.co.uk

The Weatherlink software is OK but looks dated, very WIN 3.1 like. WeatherDisplay is much more customisable, however getting it set up & customising for the website is not without its challenges!

As DAVIS is a US company, prices have gone up recently for a lot of their equipment because of the exchange rate. Unfortunately you cannot source it in the US as they use different radio frequencies for the wireless link, and DAVIS seem to discourage their distributors from selling UK spec kit from the USA. WeatherDisplay has a very good forum for advice, including setting up the VP2 and other systems.

Go for it......
