SimpleSi Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 In the process of trying to rescue a teacher's USB stick I was in the dark depths of device manager and noticed you can switch a USB drive to this state so you don't have to do safely remove! How long's this feature been in Windows? (and why didn't anyone tell me ) Ready for answers ranging from (Win95 to WinMe ) regards Simon PS Is it the default setting nowadays and if not - how can I force it to be so?
powdarrmonkey Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 Since Win 200 I think.. IIRC it's on by default for flash drives, since people have a habit of yanking them out, but not for USB hard drives and the like, since performance is sooo much better with it optimised for caching.
