New sata hard-drive in a Compaq nx6310

I've just put a new sata hard-drive in an HP Compaq nx6310 laptop, and Its installed the first part of windows XP, but when it reboots it comes up with a disk read error occured message and will not boot.

 

Any idea's?

OK you'll need to download the sata driver from the HP site and then press F6 (IIRC) during XP install to add additional drivers

And one other thing you might need USB floppy drive, isn't one in the laptop I believe, as XP install will look for the driver being on a floppy.

Thanks but that didn't work for some reason. Even followed the instructions on the HP site.
