Tests and MS Magnifier

Anyone run a test with a pupil who is VI (visualy impaired).

 

I have a pupil who uses MS Magnifier when on a PC but this dosn't run under the Test software.

 

Any experience of this or clues out there before i phone RM

Sorry we do not know of any tools for the visually impaired which work correctly with the DPS software.

 

The only option you have is to set the Microsoft Windows Accessibility options to help the pupil with the DPS software. Sorry I have no other options for you. "

 

You would think that they would have thought of this because of legal reasons and the requirement to educate people with SEN at main stream schools.

 

The accesability tool don't work with the DPS.

Just a thought - haven't even had chance to do a network audit here yet so can't actually test this for you - do you have any machines where the graphics driver supports scrollable desktops? ie setting the monitor resolution to say 640x480 but the desktop resolution to 1024x768, giving you a chunk of the screen in magnified form at all times... As it's at driver level, I'd expect it to still work with the test running...

We have VI children, if this is inputted into the students information on the APS then during the summative test (dont know about practice) the writing on the screen is bigger.

I recommend you keep the resolution in XGA and let the APS sort out who gets what. As long as all SEN information is provided to you and entered via APS Manage Students you have done all you need to.
