I've spoken to the manufacturers and they are interested in pushing a variation of this into the education market. Based on what I showed you yesterday (please post the vid) who would ne interested? Details: Intel Atom Processor 1Gb RAM 80Gb Solid State HDD Touchscreen Waterproof (so waterproof it went in a bucket of water) Toughened screen etc etc MGSTech Edited January 16, 2009 by Ex-MGSTech

plexer Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 Sounds good what's speculative pricing on it though? Ben
Ex-MGSTech Posted January 16, 2009 Author Posted January 16, 2009 Around the £600 mark, depends on what gets added or removed, as in we would want USB ports but unlikely to need the barcode scanner or RFID? Steve (MGSTech)
alan-d Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 Can they still pull the keys off the keyboard?
Ex-MGSTech Posted January 16, 2009 Author Posted January 16, 2009 Nope, cos there isn't one! Its touchscreen finger or digitiser pen (type or handwrite) or anything not too sharp really!
stratisphere Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 Would it withstand tip-ex on the screen? (Yes, we've had that done here!)
russdev Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 Sorry my fault video is being processed by blip.tv systems as we speak. Russ
alan-d Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 Nope, cos there isn't one! Its touchscreen finger or digitiser pen (type or handwrite) or anything not too sharp really! Just noticed that in the specs . So............. How 'stab proof' is it?
russdev Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 I was trying to sort sound out but in end settled for me talking over it as couldn't sort sound as flip camera just bombed out on the sound again..
russdev Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 Just noticed that in the specs . So............. How 'stab proof' is it? Very so
Ex-MGSTech Posted January 16, 2009 Author Posted January 16, 2009 Well I gave it quite a few hard wacks yesterday no problem, I'd imagine it might scratch with a compass? As for Tipex, yes i think so, its waterproof and antiseptic proof so just wipe it off with some white sprit!
alan-d Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 Very so So does that mean it will withstand heavy input from a ham fisted student with a biro? If so does that mean that because of its robustness users have to hit the screen with a little more effort than a normal touch screen? I'm not trying to be awkward on purpose - honest!

alan-d Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 Any plans for a larger HDD and screen and an option to use a DVD drive?
Ex-MGSTech Posted January 16, 2009 Author Posted January 16, 2009 I'd guess that larger disks will come as SSD drive prices decrease, as for a DVD, there's a docking station and you can use an external DVD only at present. onboard DVD will only increase the vunerability 1
stu Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 If your calming it to be Student proof what sort of warranty, would you consider offering with it, and how accessible is it for maintenance (obv outside of warranty). how future proof is it?
PeterW Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 Sorry its a bit unclear is it the Panasonic toughbook H1? H1 Rugged Mobile Clinical Device Specs - Official Panasonic Toughbook UMPCs If so it looks good

Accessability wise not very as its sealed to IP6 standards, there again I've not tried to dissassemble it! Steve 1

teejay Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 Aaaargh, chuffing council web filters have blocked the video!
russdev Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 Lets be very clear this is nhs tablet that they are looking to redesign for education market . This is is very much a "this is what company is thinking" Russ
