I've been using this for quite a while now with teachers laptops, where you install a basic image and return the files and settings. This time, however, despite pointing it to the file (on an external hdd) it says the file doesn't exist. I did this on a laptop last week without any problems. Has anyone encountered this before and have you found a work round?

I've come across this when using an external drive via USB. I deleted the USB devices from add/remove hardware devices, rebooted, let XP reinstall them and it worked fine.

If it's not that then I'm stuck too :)

well it seems to be working, but very slowly, or there's an awful lot of stuff to put back. Or, as the teacher says, "Oh, it's just a couple of files and my printer at home."
