Windows 2008 server is now official supported by Capita, Windows 2000 (server) is now dead. 64bit is also supported.

Just waiting for the SIMS hardware document to be updated.

Gah! But I've just spent half a day installing and updating a virtual Windows Server 2003 server especially for SIMS! Does this mean I can now simply move SIMS from the Server 2003 box to a Server 2008 VM and it will all just simply work? I have the documentation at:

http://support.capitaes.co.uk/websupport/RenderXSL.aspx?KB=KB73162

to follow to move SIMS and data across, is it possible to just follow the same instructions to move to Server 2008?

Pretty much. Moving SIMS isn't hard. Basically you just need to move the database, then you need to make sure the clients point at the right server.

I prefer .bak rather then .mdf\.ldf.

If you have an issue with user\pass, just go back to the original, deattach, reattach, (deattach) copy, reattach. Don't ask why, but it seems to fix the issue with FMS.
