I've been asked by a friend to look into the use of Sharepoint, think he plans to use it in his business.

Im a Moodle man so have no idea of how to go about instaling/setting up Sharepoint.

I've got vmware installed and a copy of Sharepoint 2007 all ready to do. Can anyone give me any pointers?

OK, while im installing SQL 2005 could someone please offer me some advice on my server 2003 setup.

I've installed Server 2003 on Vmware and installed all the service packs and security updates, as well as .net 2.0 & 3.0, and also Application Server.

I've Start -> Run -> dcpromo

Created the domain with all default settings, my question concerns the following IP address settings.....

I think they are correct:

IP: 192.168.1.68

Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0

Default Gateway: 192.168.1.254 (Same default gateway as the host pc)

Preferred DNS server: 127.0.0.1

Anyone see any problems with this?

Im also going to do the whol install as the Administrator account, which i presume shouldnt be a problem for a small scale test enviroment and one the wont be hosting Project Server?

You will probably need to set up DNS fowarders in the DNS server properties (DNS MMC snapin) that point to the same place as your host pcs to resolve any addresses out on the internet itself if you have not already done so.
