Q. How many students live at the school?

I've just been having a few schools have a problem where a student, who lives on the same road as the school has been linked with the schools address, ok, easy mistake, but, how many people actually live at the school. Surely it's not possible?!? I mean even in a boarding school you would need an actual home address.

 

Is this a Capita bug or an actual feature?

I suppose technically if the school has a resident caretaker then they could have a child who attends the school.

 

Its not impossible that someone might share the school address, just very unlikely.

At all the school's I've worked at where a caretaker of some kind is resident, that person has a separate address from the school even when it is on the same site. Sometimes it will only be the school address prefixed with "Caretaker's Cottage", or some variation, but it always shows up as a separate address when searching for a shipping address online (for example).

 

I'm no expert, but I would guess this is for legal and/or tax reasons.

I think it'd mainly apply to independant schools, I've been to a few where the headmaster lives on site with their family.

At the school I worked at, there were a number of flats in the main building rented to private clients. One of the students lived there with his mother.

When i used to be at school one of my friends lived in the school caretakers house and his address matched the school.

Boarding Schools definitely have students that live within the school. The children of all resident staff will have the same address as the school. The student boarders, over the age of 16 have to provide their names for the electoral register (along with resident staff and their families).

 

It is important to us that we can allocate the school's address to some of our students.

We're a convent school, and have some of the Sisters living on site, so while they share our address, I guess they wouldn't have children in the school :-) For a while, though, our caretaker was living on site too, while his house was being done up. If he had children in the school, their address would have matched.

 

The 'living in the same road' problem wouldn't arise for us though, as we are the only property on this road with our postcode.
