New Smart 660

Just had one installed with a Hitachi ED-A100 short-throw projector. So far, so good. The projector is excellent.

 

I need to install Smart software on the new system. I've been holding off using v10 because of some negative comments and the thought of having to track down all of the teachers laptops, who never bring them into school but do loads of school work at home, especially when on maternity leave and working here on supply at the same time!

 

Anyway is v10 ok to use or should I stick with v9.7?

I've rolled out 9.7 to all the teachers new computers and I'll continue to install it for a while yet. V10 seems to change the overall look and feel of the software, which usually upsets staff and as they are only just getting into using it I didnt think it would be wise to upgrade yet.

 

I run V10 on my own machine without a board and it seems fine, cant say I use it daily though!

Had to have a long discussion about this a while ago when an installer left the CD in a room after installing a board and a teacher picked it up:rolleyes:

I use v9.7 mostly and v10 at one site. Both seem pretty robust with few problems. I think it's all down to choice really, but make sure all staff use the same version and not different versions. Keeps things nice and simple!

Mine are still on 9.7 - the few that tried 10 didn't like it and the couple of new snazzy features wasn't worth the hassle of the upgrade.

 

I find that 1 in 5 smart software upgrades fails and requires about 4 hours of my time to sort out

We're rolling V10 out..I prefer it. Shame it's still so damn slow though.
