Creating Newsletters (and general DTP-type stuff)

I need to make the next EduGeek newsletter and the format is going to change since the newsletter module sucks. PDFs a plenty

 

However, I need some half-way decent DTP software to make it look nice. It could do with being free too

 

So far I have tried Scribus but it seems particularly unstable (even on MacOS X).

 

Any suggestions?

It rocks. I have a trial if you want a play.

 

Failing that then i would suggest Quark Express or Adobe InDesign.

@Grumbledook: Stop rubbing in the fact that I only have iLife 05!

 

It doesn't have to be Mac based. Something with a wizardy thing would also be good to save me having to do any actual work

If you are not sticking to Mac then you could always use M$ Publisher, that has lots of wizard-like things.

ok ... seriously though ... not done any DTP in Windows in a while but I use Publish-iT in an earlier version and quite like it as a basic package.

 

I do find the templates in iWorks are quite nice and there are a few decent free templates out there if you search.

Uh. If you're fed up with Publisher. Try Scribus. It works fine on windows (even though it claims it's still beta) as long as you install ghostscript beforehand.

I like Freehand tho' I think it's no longer part of Studio MX. It's possible to waste a day on it tho' working out how to do stuff that isn't installed on the default toolbars!
