HP64 Bit/66Mhz Dual Channel Wide Ultra3 SCSI Adapter problem

Server is HP ProLiant ML370

In it is a HP64 Bit/66Mhz Dual Channel Wide Ultra3 SCSI Adapter

 

Which now for some reason won't see my HP Ult 920 tape drive.

 

All was working fine until I did a load of 2003 server security fixes, re-booted and BAM - won't see the drive......

 

Before I start chucking the server out the window....can anyone help ?

 

On one channel I have [ that has THE conflict ]

PCI bus 1, device 3, function 1

 

On the other

 

PCI Bus 1, device 3, function 0 - This is working

 

If I go into the SCSI setup on bootup - then all I can do is change the ID of the SCSI card - which is pointless.....

Then If I select the device I can't change the bleeding ID because it comes up No Drive Found or Drive is DR mode.

What the hell does that mean ?

 

I've never experienced such crapness with anything SCSI in my life but this pile of HP shite is starting to annoy me - suggestions anyone ?

 

I can't even update the drivers on the card because I have to contact my HP rep to get them..... Yeah thanks HP.....

You can change the SCSI ID actually on the tape drive usually via a dip switch or jumper.

 

Very strange problem. Has the tape drive dissapeared from the SCSi BIOS before you get into windows?

Bleeding stupid HP - you know what it was ?

I changed the old Ult 1 tape drive months ago and did not remove it from Backup exec, I put the new tape drive on the same SCSI ID and ok, Backup exec did see both drives but it carried on working on the new drive.

God knows why I after this re-boot [ its been re-booted before ] it decided to get it's knickers in a twist over the SCSI ID - there is nothing else on ID3 [ apart from the old drive and thats not even installed ]

I changed the ID to ID6 and now it's fine - god knows why it started getting all picky - bleeding daft. And as for the HP SCSI config setup [ from boot ] - what a pile of shite - you can hardly do anything with it apart from change the ID of the actual interface.....
