Can't imagine they'd be connected to the internet at large heh... Visions of the next Royal Navy ads having someone going "And I can update my Facebook status from the bottom of the ocean!" too instead of that stupid bloke going on about just switching his servers off and on again.

Somehow I doubt they have internet access on the submarine.

i know that IC manufacturers make 'chips' that are 'military spec', eg, ceramic case, best quality batch etc.

 

but surely using micrsh@ft will undo all that reliability and robustness?, it wont be long before we all get nuked

Wasn't there an ad a little while back with a Navy Engineer/Technician and he basically said "sometime all I have to do is turn it off and on again". Now we know why!

So now instead of the submarine being able to stay under for months at a time and being "invisible", they will need to come to the surface to receive all the windows updates and will then need to Reboot to allow the patch to apply.

 

And what will happen with a BSOD
