Axis POE Midspan

Hi,

 

Wondered if anyone has used something other than the Axis Midspan to power the Axis 206/207 cameras. I have a small budget but want to do it right this time (I have 9 already that I used other POE products and had to solder the connectors).

 

I will still buy the axis splitter but need a POE switch which works with them. The single splitter is £70 so don;t fancy paying another £70 for a midspan.

 

Any pointers would be appreciated.

Am I right in thinking you're after a midspan to power multiple cameras from a single cab? If so then anything that is 802.3af compliant (max 15.4w per port) for axis 206/207. Eg how about these: 12-Port PoE Midspan - DWL-P1012 by D-Link

 

For the single PoE injectors, I use the following copmpatibles (and they are the cheapest I could find!!)PowerDsine PD-3001 1-Port AC Power over Ethernet Midspan

I did try a POE switch before which didn't work but I reckon it was too weedy to power it so I necer looked back into them till now.

 

Do the Powersdine ones have the correct connectors?

The powerdsnine ones (infact the same as what most manufacturers use but are re-badged) are hooked up to the mains with a standard kettle lead. On the other end of the unit you have 2 ethernet ports - one goes to your camera and the other plugs into your switch. If you have lots of these it can make your cab messy - a midspan would probably be neater

Or a decent PoE switch. But either will blow the budget I expect.

My cab is a bit messy with all these little dlink invertor thingys. Think I might get one of those switches so I can ditch some of them.

This POE injector/splitter pair works well with Axis 206/7 cameras and is probably the cheapest way of doing it.

For those non-standard PoE and non-PoE devices smart adapters from PanOptic Technology work quite well.
