I once found on google a pdf page that displayed the cost per page for an Epson Aculaser C900 - it was fantastic, and was very comprehensive - showing the cost depending on how much you printer, rather than a generalisation. I cannot find that page again, whatever I seem to type into google. I was wondering if anyone knows of a site or something that could help me?

If only I could just tell teachers to think before they print... It doesn't work, so I need a proper wake-up call!!!

Thanks in advance!

If you print quota manager like PCounter or Print Manager Plus then you can keep a log of queue usage.

I think there's an option to associate a monetary value per page on particular printer. This means that running a log report for a heavy user will soon bring home to them or their line manager just how unhelpful they are being.

We use some software called Papercut (http://www.papercut.biz) which lets students and teachers check their credits, keeps a log of all jobs, creates reports etc

You can set the cost per page, or area, or page size etc.

If you want to find the costs per page for specific printers isn't it usually on the details page of the manufacturers sites?

Thanks for the replies so far - I am looking to get some software to give users accounts on how much they use etc...

What I'm looking for, though, is something that gives details on cost per page based on cartridge cost etc... I just can't think where I have seen it before :-(

Why not find out how many pages the printer has printed, find out from the bursa how much you have spent on ink / toner for that printer and then just work it out.

Crude I know but will give you the 'real life' figure of cost per page rather than the printer companies costs per page which is usally based on something like 5% coverage per page.

Yeah I did think about doing that... Just this page had things like:

5% Mono = X.p

25% Mono = X.p

75% Mono etc...

And the same for colour!

I think I will just do my own, that looks like it's from some company, with some exaggeration - that should resolve the printer cost crisis! lol!

Meanwhile will have a look at the above mentioned software.

Thanks all! :-)

I have HP and Xerox printers and they tell you exactly how much Ink is used per print. The Xerox printers also tell how much of the maintenace kit is used.

I produced a range of documents:

Full page black text

Full Page coloured text

Full page text with word art title

Publisher document with a few photos

A4 Photo

Publisher Document with a bold background.

I then worked out the cost of these by printing two of each. I wrote the price on each one and gave them to the head of IT to show him how those Publisher documents with a full bold background cost more to print out than a photo!

If only I had HP lol! That sounds pretty good though - I will keep it in mind for when I next get a printer.

You wouldn't mind doing me a small favour would you? Having done your page costs, what are they for the above examples?

And how much approx are your cartridges?

I can then get a good idea to my made up one then lol

Thanks! :-)
