Allow Website 1 User

Dont think this is possible but thought i'd ask anyway. We have an ISA-style box that cache's and also can block websites. We also have control of filtering at our ISP end.

 

A few of our students go to college and discuss topics and group exercises on facebook. Is it possible to allow 1 student access to this. The only way i thought of doing it was to get the ISP to unblock it, and i can ban it on the ISA box. The student can then use the isp proxy rather than the cache.

 

Are there any free proxies that I can add the settings to in IE?

If you have actual ISA 2004 or above this is easy, you can allow the site through your ISP then add a rule in ISA above the usual user internet access rule that allows only that user to all sites. Then under this add a block rule for the site. After this you keep your standard allow all sites rule.

 

As the list it processed from the top down the allowed student or group is allowed to that site and everyone else is blocked from that site before they reach the allow any site rule.

Or, you could simply add a rule that blocks access to that specific site to everyone apart from that one user.

 

A better way might be to create a group and just allow access to the site to that group access to the site, that way you can make him a member of the group. That way, when more users need access ( as they will inevitably do) you can make them members of the group.

Sorry, the ISA box is actually an Avantis ContentCache so not possible to allow for 1 user in there.
