Problem Accessing Outlook Mobile Access

When accessing OMA, we receive the attached error. Is there a solution to this or an alternative 3rd party product we can use for access OWA on PDAs?

You will want to add the suggested configuration to the web.config file located in the OMA directory to get a useable error out of it, then you will have a better idea of what is going on and gow to fix it.

 

If the PDAs are Windows Mobile you should be able to use the built in client to check email which is much better than OMA.

I have tried that, and unfortunately it makes no difference. The PDA in question is actually an iPhone.

 

The device is too small and fiddly to use regular OWA, and it's client won't connect to our mail server via imap or pop3, despite the relevant ports being open on our firewall.

Did you restart the application pool afterwards in the IIS manager, perhaps there is another setting overriding it in the XML file. I don't think that it contains any specific data and would probably be safe to post here so we could have a look.

 

Are you able to connect internally using a browser on a pc?

 

Most of the errors to do with OWA are authentication type based, have you got webmail up and running with SSL and does this use forms based authentication?

 

The latest firmware for that device apparently marginally supports the propper sync methods so it may be worth checking it out. Not sure about installing the root cert into the iPhone though, that may ned a seporate post in the Mac section but it is possible (even likely) that that device will restrict you to paid for certificates.
