At y last school I set up a set of word templates that we mail-merged with the class list extracted from SIMS to generate a word document for each class.

I ended up modifying them slightly, rebadging them and they are now in use here :)

Is there a better one out there?

Not sure, but we certainly need one. Our current report-writing system seems to involve a remarkable number of bits of paper flying around the place, with all the staff getting most confused the whole time. It strikes me as about the World's Simplest Database Based Application to write, too - list of teachers, list of pupils, list of subjects, teacher writes a report for a given pupil for a given subject, maybe their head of department checks it over, done. If I get time I'll write one.

I created a set of comment banks for Report Writer for my own Primary School which covered every single QCA and maths and literacy subject for Years 1 to 6. To download it for free, you will need to go to Home where you can download them.

I have searched for better alternatives, which are free, but have not found anything. MY big gripe was that there were not enough report comment banks for it, and so I made another 340 for you to use ad share.

I also added them as a zip file here if you want all of them at one go!

I hope this helps.
