I have just been asked to create a sharepoint site for the school, i have completed and now have it up and working. the only problem is, is that a lot of the sites have lost there permissions and have given everyone including 'homeowners' 'no access' i believe this could of happened when i was copying the site as we have 1031 sites and 989 of them are pretty much the same just for different departments. so i need to know how to get it to copy the permissions when i am copying the site otherwise i will have to do all of those 989 sites again one at a time. PLEASE HELP!

1031 sites..?!?!

bloody hell.

How are you copying them? and in what way, from one server to another?

Is this MOSS 2007 or WSS 3?

Personally, I've have not created a site per class but permissioned single sites per year, but whatever you think.

That said, this should be possible, although easier if you have a copy of sharepoint designer.

DO the top level sites permissions all match? maybe a top level setting is knocking out the sub permissions?

okay ive had a look at the pages and there permissions and found that they have no permissions and when i set them to inherit the pages then let in anyone i need to which is fine, is there a way to set mass permission as in to all sites?
