moggy Posted November 24, 2008 Posted November 24, 2008 A student has just brought in his Acer laptop. The cat jumped on the keyboard and the 'J' key broke off! He has the key and has bought the 'bit' that holds the key to the keyboard. It looks frighteningly fragile, so I don't want to force it. Anyone done this and can advise on how to do it? TIA
markman Posted November 24, 2008 Posted November 24, 2008 I have repaired many Dell keyboards that our kids systematically take apart but not and Acers. It is a skill and you just have to be careful. With Dell Inspirons you position the fidly back with a small screwdriver and then the key just clicks on. Hope this is helpful
Serena Posted March 8, 2010 Posted March 8, 2010 I found this site which has video tutorials on how to reinstall your keyboard keys. They have all brands and models of laptops, You can search for your Acer model in their list. Check out: Replacement Laptop Keys You can even buy Replacement Laptop Keys from them for your laptop if you need them. 1
