short run dvd duplication

[RabbieBurns]

been asked to make 50 copies of the dvd of the school trip - no chance.

Can anyone recommend a company that will do a small run like 50?

There's some local companies I can go to but I just wondering if theres anyone people prefer, and what kind of price I should be looking at?

Have you had a quote from anyone? If so how does it compare to something like the Edgedupe 1-10 duplicators (about £380) if you consider you'd only need to press start and wander off 5 times for it to be done and you could use it over and over for drama productions etc too?

I bought a 1-4 one for our AV dept when they started having to do more duplication work and they're over the moon with it.

[RabbieBurns]

not had a quote from anyone yet, but I was estimating it would be around £25.

Its just a one off so I don't think it would warrant purchasing any hardware for.

I doubt that very much. Once you've done this once, that teacher will likely want the same again on their next trip, plus others will start wanting to do it to theirs, then the drama and music departments will start asking for films of performances and concerts, etc etc etc.

Up until now, I have just burned them myself - when I know I'm going to be in my office for a few hours, I set it copying, swapping the discs over as they finish. I do keep meaning to look at duplicators though!

That looks ideal. Thanks.

One thing thats just occured to me. I believe the DVD has got music that is copyrighted in it.

Even though they were going to give the dvds away free to the students, I take it there is going to be an issue with using the music?

Yes. If you send the stuff off, you will be asked to prove that you have the right to copy. Well, a reputable organization will ask...

[RabbieBurns]

Does anyone know how easy / expensive it is to get permission to use tracks?

Theres only about 4. They are old things like "in the jungle, the lion sleeps tonight" etc
