Pressing "Return" to send an email??

Not a complaint, just an observation.

 

The trailer for BBC News where the various correspondents are typing out emails (I can tell they're email by the shots of the screens).

There are a number of images of them hitting the "Return" key, presumably suggesting they are sending the emails and therefore suggesting BBC News is constantly updated.

 

However, I don't think I know of any email client where you send an email by hitting the "Return" key. Hitting this key moves my cursor onto the next line.

 

It's putting across the message that "You can rely on BBC News; they use paragraphs".

 

Just an observation.

yes, for years I used pine (and still do on remote systems)

I don't think the BBC are using Pine. Looks like bog-standard Outlook Express to me.

Maybe they're demonstrating their awesome knowledge of keyboard shortcuts and holding down Ctrl with the other hand?

 

That, or their ad guys are as retarded as everyone else's ad guys.

Imagine the confusion this is going to cause.

People from around the world will be thinking, "Wow! I only have to press Return to send this email" when in fact they're going to end up with hundreds of empty paragraphs.

 

It's going to be a technological disaster!

I suspect it may be ENPS - Electronic News Production System - rather than Lookout. This is the system which runs the whole BBC News operation.

 

This rather poor image is the best I can find, showing that from a distance it could be mistaken for Outlook.
