flashsnaps Posted October 20, 2008 Posted October 20, 2008 Hi all, I have a Asus A8V Motherboard which I am trying to flash as I am getting CPU errors. I have downloaded AFUDOS and A8V-0229.rom and placed them on a floppy. I run the command: AFUDOS /IA8V-0229.ROM /OTEST It reads the flash - but keeps coming up with this error: ERROR: ROM file ROMID is not compatible with existing BIOS ROMID I have the correct ROM file as downloaded from ASUS website and even tried older versions, but still getting the same error. Any ideas what I am doing wrong?
matt40k Posted October 20, 2008 Posted October 20, 2008 Try the uk site to download the drivers, failing that, try the usa site. Some reason ASUS are weird with regards to drivers, they could be multiple versions of your board, v.1, v.1b etc
flashsnaps Posted October 20, 2008 Author Posted October 20, 2008 Can't find a UK site with the drivers on. ASUSTeK Computer Inc.-Support- The US one I have downloaded the bios ROM file from but no luck.
Michael Posted October 20, 2008 Posted October 20, 2008 Have you tried flashing within Windows? I have done this plenty of times using the Asus utility. I'm expecting my new Intel E8500 3.16GHz, 1333MHz bus with 6MB L2 cache processor to arrive shortly
flashsnaps Posted October 20, 2008 Author Posted October 20, 2008 Resolved now - just suddenly started to work - woohoo!
