OCR Scoris Examiner Hardware Validation Tool and Flash 10

Hi folks.

 

In the event that someone else finds this useful . . . .

 

This evening I got asked to have a look at a machine that was running the OCR Scoris Examiner Hardware Validation Tool.

 

One of the tests it runs is to check which version of Flash is running - it requires v7 or greater.

 

The machine being used had Flash 10. It correctly detected this, put a tick in the 'Capture' column but a big red cross in the 'Assessor' column.

 

I decided that this was dodgy version detection ("if ver = 7 or 8 or 9" - I've seen it done!), and so uninstalled v10 and installed v9, which was hairier than it sounds. I had to hunt down:

Click on Flash Player 9 (99 MB)

 

Then extract and run flashplayer9r124_winax

 

And then it passed both tests.

Thanks for the tip. We don't use Scoris, but it was with a slight feeling of impending doom that we set Flash 10 to deploy on the network a couple of days ago. Therefore, we took the precaution of retaining Flash 9 for a quick retrace in the event of a problem. My worst fear is that we get a conflict with some of the legacy software and there is no clear resolution. I'll post here if anything turns up.
