plexer Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 Does anyone know of a small standalone device that is capable of displaying a specific url on it's attached monitor? I want to wall mount a tft to display the nagios tactical overview and want something that can do this and have a mouse attached just so we can drill down to the problem host when anything is reported. I know I could use some sort of linux distro on an old machine but just wondered if there was anything available. Ben
Sirbendy Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 (edited) Possibly one of the Nano-ITX/PicoITX "PC on a board" setups? They look rather cool. Failing that..an old MB, built in a box with a compactflash to IDE converter and a 4/8/16gb flashcard? I've just bought an 8gb and converter for my laptop for..about £20. Something like this: http://www.itx-warehouse.co.uk/Product.aspx?ProductID=756 and this: http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.10309 plus RAM, a CF card and a PSU..bish bosh, less than £70 all in. seanmh Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 I use an old Wyse Thin client 9235LE which has Windows XP Embedded on it. Really small device and you can pick them up on Ebay. Will wake on LAN and I have poweroff running as a service to shut down in an evening. Find it's ideal for this although you can't really install much else on them without difficulty as they are really meant for linking to a Citrix server and XP Embedded is a totally different beast. You can also VNC to it as this comes installed as standard in the base image on the flash memory. 1
