Laptop With Com Port

I am finding it hard to find a laptop that has a com port.

 

The one i normally use when configuring switches has died. It was only used for that purpose nothing else. I am finding it hard to find one with a com port at all. Do those USB adapters work?

 

If anyone has one in the local area that is giving one away i would be grateful it doesn't need to be anything spectacular. Just a second hand Windows 2000 one will do fine. Sorry i cant give anything for it the school are skint at the moment, although a drink will be on the cards

 

Failing that i will try a USB adapter.

They certainly do - XP has no issues with them, although we've had a couple that Vista took a dislike to. I've had no issues with XP (using good old Hyperterminal, Putty and other terminal programs).

Not local to you, but I have an old Acer Travelmate 210 that I was going to bin the other day, got win 2k on it. You're welcome to that if you want it, but you'll have to pay for postage. I don't have a power adapter for it I'm afraid, but I know it works. PM me if you're interested.
