Hi,

Not sure if I am posting in the correct forum. However, I just have a question. I am ready to deploy SP3 via group policy to 20 clients in our office. In the OU I am applying the GPO to there are 3 Vista machines. What will happen if I move these machines into the OU.

Will Vista know to bypass and go straight to the logon screen?

A bit random, but was wondering.

thanks

You'd be better off setting up a WSUS server - then updates are only applied to clients that have the right software installed anyway- so the vista clients would be ignored

Just put your xp machines into a security group and only grant read and apply policy to this group. No need to take machines out of the OU or create a new OU.

The update msi contains a set of OS criteria that are checked before the software is actually installed. In some cases software will refuses to install if you do not have enough ram etc.

In the case of this update it will simply open the package and realize that the software does not apply to the version of windows that it is running on then cancel out of the install harmlessly. There is no need to rearrange your OUs or anything.
