level42 Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 Hello, Bit a novice to all this building-a-website-from-scratch lark, so I would really appreciate some help. I have downloaded the Joomla 1.0 script to my webspace via Fantastico and now want to download the Edugeek package. Could someone link me to or run me through how I install all of this please? Many thanks, G
FN-GM Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 have a look at this link Edugeek Joomla Package Demo - Installation
level42 Posted September 17, 2008 Author Posted September 17, 2008 Being really ditzy here - where do I upload the first file on CPanel?
FN-GM Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 do you have FTP setup? if so upload the whole folder using that.
Edu-IT Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 You can upload files through cPanel but only three at a time I think so as FN-GM says you would be much better to use FTP. Download an FTP client and then simply type in your domain, your username and password and connect. Then it's just a case of transferring files from your computer to the server and it'll be pretty obvious how to do that in the FTP client. Once that is done run the installer. You will need to create a MySQL database through cPanel. I'd offer to do it for you but you might learn more by doing it yourself.
Christina Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 Hi I've been following instructions given here too - bit of a novice also! Doenloaded the ftp and uploaded the files. The quickguide says that I should see pre-installation checks but I can't? The files all definately uploaded though. What will I do now???
