Any Advice on Server Backing Up hardware???

Hello

 

Please could anyone recommend any hardware backing up devices eg Tape or NAS that could backup 6 servers overnight???

 

Server 1 =12gb, Server2 =93gb, Server3 =52gb, Server4 =90gb, Server5 =17, and lastly Server6 =55gb...

 

At the moment I have Netgear NASext+ RAIDX which is starting to struggle with the amount of data been copied over the network from the servers i have tried a stragger the start time of the server but still taking way to long to backup, I need a device thats fast and that I can backup and take the media off the school grounds for safety...

USB or Firewire not a option really i would like a single device backup method and not 6 ext hard drives to have to take home, also it needs to be a network device!!! been looking at HP 500gb backup tape devices...

The local high school i work near and with has a HP tape loader, you stick a big ass tape in (i think they are 200gb uncomp and 400 comp'd) and then magic happens and all the servers are backed up.

 

that school runs 7 severs with a total of 7TB storage but obv that isnt all used.

 

Id look into "HP Tape Loader" and see what you find

You asked for something to overcome your issue of data transfer.

 

Otherwise a nas connected via fibre or other fast connection and possibly a vpn into the server room.

 

Unless you have a quality and security controlled data centre at home or you are paying a vaulting company to take it offsite then the best you can is a remote building in the school.

Thanks for all the idea`s looking at the HP ULTRIUM 920 SCSI EXT TAPE DRIVE, with a U1 plate 400GBUncompressed 800GBCompressed looks like the best solution for the schools data.
