Hi, yes we have used this for a while with a couple of secondary schools in my LA. Once it is setup it works quite well and makes the whole process easier.

The new version allows you to have more than one audio track which the old version did not. If you do not have your own webserver then at a cost you can rent some space with softease. The only thing that came up for us was that you really need to vet each podcast before you let the students upload them oherwise you may end up with some questionable content. By adding a password to the publish function then they cannot do the final step of uploading.

Best thing to do is download the trial version and give it a go.

It's already been purchased! We don't have webserver neither do we seem to have bought into the hosting package, is it cheap/free/easy to setup a webserver, maybe just for internal viewing?

Don't deploy using the MSI!

If you try to remove the software, it doesn't work, It just comes up "removing managed software, podium" for around 45 mins and then when a user logs on it take 20 mins to logon.

Hi

I work for Softease (the makers of Podium) as an Account Manager in the south-west and West Midlands.

Its definitely safe to use the MSI that comes with Podium for installing onto school networks. If you'd like any assistance or support please call us on 01335 301200 or send an email to [email protected].

Also, we normally provide free, unlimited hosting for your podcasts for the first 12 months after your purchase (we set you up with a private ftp account on our server). Again, please ask us if you'd like this and we can also help you with setting it up.

Good luck

James
