Good morning all,

Not sure if I am going about what I want to achieve in the right way but if possible I would like to create a Team into which the members have permission to open and download documents but not edit\upload while the owners retain the right to edit\upload.

I am assuming this is done on the SharePoint side after the Team is created rather than on the Team side but cannot quite figure out how to get that balance right.

Thank you

yes you can set the permissions on the sharepoint side.  I'd create a sharepoint site for this rather than teams but this should work in teams.

On the sahrepoint part of the team click on the gear icon -> Site permissions -> advanced settings. Click permission levels -> ass a permission level.

Give it a name such as drop box or something similar. Check Add Items and View items and uncheck edit, delete and open items and save it.

Make a new folder in the document library (this is why i would use Sharepoint rather than teams) and stop inheriting permissions, assign your users/groups and the new custom permission (dropbox) level.

  • Thanks 1
