This is an exciting opportunity to join a successful Trust where technology is integral to everything we do.

Working closely with the Technologies Director, you will play a key role in ensuring that the Federation’s IT infrastructure and services remain secure, reliable and effective. You will support a diverse range of technologies including networking, cloud services, cyber security, virtualisation, device management and end-user support while contributing to the ongoing development of technology across the Federation.

This role would suit an experienced IT Technician, Infrastructure Technician, Systems Administrator or IT Support Engineer looking to further develop their skills within a forward-thinking educational environment. We offer excellent training and career progression for ambitious and flexible candidates.

THE ROLE

As Senior IT Technician, you will:

  • Support the day-to-day operation, maintenance and development of the Federation’s IT infrastructure and services.
  • Provide high-quality technical support to staff and students through email, telephone and face-to-face assistance.
  • Install, configure, maintain network infrastructure, servers, devices and cloud-based services.
  • Monitor system performance, capacity and availability, identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, escalating where appropriate.
  • Support the implementation of technology projects and Federation transformation initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate technical documentation and support the continuous improvement of services.
  • Help maintain high standards of cyber security, privacy and data protection across the Federation.
  • Support the safe and effective use of emerging technologies, including AI, to enhance productivity and reduce workload.
  • Ensure technology resources effectively support teaching, learning and wider Federation activities.

ABOUT YOU

You will have:

  • Experience supporting IT infrastructure and services within a professional environment.
  • Strong technical knowledge of networking, Windows Server, virtualisation and storage technologies.
  • Experience supporting Microsoft 365, Entra ID or similar cloud-based technologies.
  • Knowledge of cyber security principles and frameworks such as Cyber Essentials.
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical users.
  • A customer-focused approach combined with a commitment to continuous professional development.
  • A higher-level qualification in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience supported by industry-recognised certifications, would be advantageous.
  • Experience within the education sector is desirable but not essential. We welcome applications from candidates working in education, commercial and public-sector IT environments.
