Sheridan Posted June 26 Posted June 26 Apple have raised their prices significantly overnight, if anyone is like me and was looking to buy a Macbook Pro, its now £1999 base price, but John Lewis have the 512gb version still for £1269 so I snapped one of those up sharpish! Even the Neo has gone up to £699 base although whether this will impact the Edu price as much is yet to be seen. 11" iPad Pro now starts at £1199! I'm looking to sell my M4 Macbook Air now and retire 🙂

itskdog Posted June 26 Posted June 26 To be fair to Apple, they ate the cost (thanks to their expensive RAM upgrades) for a decent chunk of time, but I'm sure even they're feeling the squeeze. I've heard via someone mentioning an interview about the Steam Machine that the DRAM manufacturers are essentially dictating pricing to OEMs as the AI companies will buy it all anyway at much higher prices.

Yeah this was on the cards for Apple they're not isolated from the impact. Glad I saw the offer at JL in time though!
DrCheese Posted June 28 Posted June 28 Curry still had the old prices on Saturday so snapped up an M5 Pro. It's.. bad when you feel you have to distress purchase equipment to make sure you've got something to last you the next 5/6 years of this.. mess.
Sheridan Posted June 29 Author Posted June 29 I might have to got to currys. JL decided to send my macbook to the wrong address, fortunately it was bounced back as the other address didn't have the pin code. By the time it gets back to JL and then is credited to me as a return I bet they increase the price!
dmj Posted June 29 Posted June 29 They've been trying to buy RAM from blacklisted Chinese companies as the cost of it is so crazy https://www.reuters.com/world/asia-pacific/apple-seeks-approval-buy-chips-blacklisted-chinese-company-ft-reports-2026-06-27/
MinnieTechie Posted August 6 Posted August 6 £1269 is a great price, and I would do the same, but the iPad Pro price is getting a bit silly though.
