Anyone found a way to allow google earth (web version) without allowing students to sign into google? It seems blocking the sign in page accounts.google.com stops google earth from working

We're a MS school so SLT don't want them signing into other email providers but seems google earth doesn't work with this blocked (even though you're not actually signing in!)

Just opened a new browser profile in Chrome and went to "earth.google.com" and it just took me straight into the app, no sign-in prompt here.

Yes that's what I see for Staff etc - but because we prevent students from signing into Google (accounts.google.com) it just shows the spinning wheel

In the smoothwall logs I can see the block on accounts.google.com so it must try to connect to that before going to google earth

You can still have a Google domain that will allow them to sign in but not have mail access. IIRC Earth is one of the apps that needs parental permissions, though.

I think its also to stop them customising the home page in chrome etc - used to use the desktop app which worked ok!

You can probably block that, but it's more work for you!
