Simcfc73 Posted February 11 Posted February 11 Hi, Wonder if someone could help. I've managed to setup a VLAN interface on my SW box and enabled DHCP fo that. I've added the subnet so the client is picking up the lease and can brose the interent.. success. Problem is its not filtering or showing up.. I can't see what I've missed.. or its misconfigured somewhere, So my switch has an IP-Helper pointing to the Smootwalls VLAN IP 192.168.66.1 My Smoothwall DHCP is giving out addresses with the default gateways of the other internal interface on the smoothwall 10.100.100.2 (I set this as thats whats on my windows DHCP). Does this sound right? Core authenitication is on 10.100.100.2 I did create a new VLAN interface. Hope someone can help with this limited information
tom_newton Posted February 11 Posted February 11 So as I parse this, you have successfully set up a new VLAN, that's getting out to the internet, folks are getting dhcp, peachy. But no filtering. Presumably you have transparent filter in mind? In which case the issue has to be that there's no transparent filter policy (web proxy/auth/manage policies) for that _interface_ and IP range
Simcfc73 Posted February 11 Author Posted February 11 That's it, thanks. Thought I'd done it. This was a test which now works so I'm going to migrate my other scopes off windows to smoothwall. I presume I need to create a new vlan for each scope? Is this the correct way to setup the vlans.. on a new NIC... I tried to add it to an existing one but it wasn't listed.
