Gov.uk phishing email warning

Had a concerned member of staff email tonight after receiving an email purportedly from a government department, warning about phishing scams.

It goes on about security, even going as far as to instructing us to google the department and click the link rather than clicking links in random emails.

But alas, it's chock full of typos including these two lovely "links".

 

And it's real. No, the.gov.uk isn't correct, nor is to.gov.uk. It's not a phish, it's an official email warning us about phishing attacks targeting this specific department.

What hope do we have, when our own Government departments make the most basic errors like this? Absolutely laughable!

Were they links created by the sender or had your email client made them in to links?
 

If I was sending an email about registering a .co.uk domain. I might ask

"What is a good company to register a premium.co.uk name with?"
The email client of the person receiving the email might then make 'premium.co.uk' a link even though I, the sender, didn't intend it to be.

 

Still the senders fault for not putting spaces before referring to the gov.uk domain though.

Don't even try sending an email about sims.net though.

Lets just pray to Christ that MI5 and GCHQ have more competent individuals running things because if not we're doomed.

I think they mean S M S the messaging service rather than Sims the MIS.

It's SMS as in sponsored migration service or something rather than text messaging (that got me too )

But no, I checked on a few clients and also the plain text version - that's how it came!
