Got a 1Tb Seagate 3.5" plugged into a caddy

First of all would not spin up

Took off the plate and moved the read/write head, then it spun up

Disk Management says it is an invalid disk - see pic

Need to get data off !

Any advice welcome !

Also try with another O/S (usb boot linux for example). If it gets recognised then take a block level image ASAP and mount that on loopback.

If you have an identical HDD, you could try swapping the platters from the broken one into the working HDD.

clean room, blah blah YMMV

Caddy may not be giving it enough power.

Opening it up was exceptionally brave, but may have condemned it!

Can you plug it in internally and try?

Caddy is OK

Tried it internally and said no disk found !
