Satellite Pro E10-G-101. Windows 11 possible?

Hi folks,

Does anyone else have the Satellite Pro E10-G-101 from the COVID batches, or otherwise?

We were using the WhyNotWin11 app to check hardware, and it flagged these as compatible, but it transpires they have a Celeron N200 and aren't. Prior to spotting that, we had deployed a build to them with MEMCM, and all is fine until the anti-virus client (ESET) goes on. This brings the laptops to their knees, although they were fine with this setup and Win 10. Dynabook support have been helpful, pointed out the N200 CPU but provided the original driver pack, which I have included in further test deployments, but that has not helped.

Before we write them off, just checking if anyone else has had any success with them and Win 11?

Thanks

I remember Symantec A/V would slow our old ~2015 Pentium machines (this was in the core2duo era, Pentium was the budget branding then) to the point of being barely usable - 20 min logons, constant disk thrashing etc.  But on a modern even a weak CPU with more than 2 cores and an SSD I would imagine it shouldn't be too bad.

Mind I have used an 8th Gen Core i5  which was a decent machine in 2019, it doesn't run Windows 11 that snappily but I haven't investigated it further.  Symantec's advice back then was just to exempt a bunch of folders from the scanning routine. (Not using that now!)

Thanks both.

It was their support that said the N200 wasn't compatible, but now that I look more closely at the email they cite an N4000, although that's also on the compatiblity list, albeit with a caveat that the machine has to be pre-installed with Windows 11. It does seem to be the install of ESET that brings it to its knees, despite it working fine with Win 10. I've heard nothing further form Dynabook support.

Tried a fresh installation of Windows 11 25H2 Education. Installed fine. Got to final configuration. Mouse does not work, OS very slow and clunky. Eventually it did the updates. Mouse does not work, tab key sometimes registers. Overall a failure.

I have reverted to Windows 10 which appears a lot smoother. These things are only loaned out to students for use at home when they do not have their own device. Therefore Windows 10 should not be a problem. Not worth wasting a lot of time sorting out the issues.
