hailst0rm Posted September 19, 2025 Posted September 19, 2025 The last few years have been a bit of a rollercoaster to put it mildly. Received a demotion from IT manager at the current school I work at. It's only been in name only so thankfully hasn't affected pay. Looking into what training might help before I look to move on. Can anyone recommend management training that would look good on my CV?
DrBeaker Posted September 19, 2025 Posted September 19, 2025 If it's been a rollercoaster and you've survived - ESPECIALLY with no training - put that on there/your CV. It shows you've risen to the challenge of working in such an environment.
hailst0rm Posted September 26, 2025 Author Posted September 26, 2025 Appreciate it but most of the rollercoaster of events has been in my private life. I did find that there is CMI and ILM. Both seem to require some sort of course and class based learning. I'm used to just reading a book and doing the exam like with Prince2, ITIL and the various Microsoft certs. Rather painfully expensive as well so will have to park this idea for now.
Kitkatninja Posted October 7, 2025 Posted October 7, 2025 OK, you may have been demoted from being an IT Manager, but have you spoken to your employer about an apprenticeship program? The level 3 in Team Leading could be one for you. Quote The broad purpose of the occupation is a team leader role, with operational and project responsibilities. They will have responsibility for managing individuals, a team, or elements of a project. Otherwise, you could take a look into free short courses such as Level 2 Certificate in Principles of Team Leading Level 2 Certificate in Lean Organisation Management Techniques 1
