TwistedHelixis Posted August 31, 2025 Posted August 31, 2025 So, for my testing I purchased 15 Endpoint Education Upgrade licenses, which just cover a user logging into a GCPW laptop. I was just looking at the licensing pages and it looks like Google have changed all their licensing. For their main licenses they now only seem to have 'Education Plus:' £5 (ish) per user per year. looks like standard has been removed. Q1 - On the Education Plus page it doesn't seem to list supporting Windows endpoints, does the Plus license support GCPW endpoints? Q2 - On the Costings page it lists that Plus is £4.80 per person per year. Is that only staff, or do we need to also pay that for pupils? Thanks
TwistedHelixis Posted August 31, 2025 Author Posted August 31, 2025 Q3 - If the pupils are using Chromebooks or Flex devices, does it work OK splitting the licences, so the staff are on Plus and the pupils are on Education Fundamentals, or does that cause a headache / issues?
TheHyperTechie Posted September 3, 2025 Posted September 3, 2025 (edited) Q1 - Yes, plus does cover GCPW licensing. It also includes lots of other useful tools which in my opinion are worth it! Q2 - When I renewed last, the licensing had a ratio of 4/1 so for every 4 student licenses, you got a free staff license. This may have changed now though. I would speak to Getech they are very helpful. Worth noting, that you have to license your whole domain. Q3 - I did this for a while, had the students on fundamentals, and staff on standard - but by doing this, they missed out on extra features (security centre was the main and most useful one). Getech recommended I apply standard licenses to all users. Hope this helps. Edited September 3, 2025 by HyperTech 1

It'll be a flat fee per user per year heading forward (from 01/10/25 I believe!) but it will also introduce archive licenses and Gmail only licenses. https://support.google.com/a/answer/15603742?hl=en&src=supportwidget0&authuser=0 2
TwistedHelixis Posted September 9, 2025 Author Posted September 9, 2025 Does the standard also include GCPW licenses? I have been reading through their license pages, but see it listed anywhere.

TwistedHelixis Posted September 9, 2025 Author Posted September 9, 2025 I just clicked on to this Google licensing page it it only lists Fundamentals and Plus, are Google doing away with Standard? https://edu.google.com/intl/ALL_uk/workspace-for-education/editions/compare-editions/

Previously, Education Plus had different licenses for staff and students because they had different features. Moving forward, all licenses have access to the same features, so we're moving to one single license type for all users. This single license type will simplify licensing assignment and ordering processes, unify support start and end dates for clearer subscription management, and will help speed up the ordering and renewals process".

Brilliant, thanks
TwistedHelixis Posted September 10, 2025 Author Posted September 10, 2025 So I think they are going to buy the stand alone 'endpoint' licenses, as they are almost free. Would have liked them to get the Plus, but its not my choice
