removing games from ASUS Eee PC

How easy is it to rmove the games from these beasts and how do you do it?

the easiest thing to do would be to remove them from the menu - there are instructions to this effect under the wiki, where I believe there is a whole section devoted to the eeepc

They can still be run with command line or by finding the file in the file explorer, they worked this out after about a week. So it depends if they are secondary school as to how much you modify them and whether they get to take them home or not.

 

To remove via command line: apt-get remove

Might be being dumb but i couldn't see anything about removing menu items.

 

Was hoping there is an "idiot solution" that i can use.

EeePC - Linux OS

 

See the bit about 'adding items to the simple menu', instead of adding, search for the item you want to remove and delete the appropriate lines.

 

You have to be careful when editing this, as you could end up with a blank screen and you'll need to edit it back or re-image it (F9 if you've not removed this function). Remember the children can also use the F9 funtion to put the PC back to standard (inc games).

I added a bit about a GUI for menu editing too!

 

Anyway... that isn't really the solution. I don't have an EeePC with me at the moment so I don't know the package names (but I'll look when I get home).

 

It will be a simple case of

aptitude purge

I dont know if anybody is still watching this thread but the easiest possible way is from the terminal (home key + t) just type

sudo synaptic

Its basically add and remove programs for linux!
