mrbios Posted August 14, 2025 Posted August 14, 2025 Got a ticket open with our local sims support office but in lieu of waiting for that, thought i'd see if anyones seen similar issues. Currently using the option Focus > Budget Management > Cost Center Allocations as our test. Running it before the summer used to take 2-3 seconds for the window to pop up, now it takes up to 30 seconds for the window to appear. A significant slow down. However if i run the actual query that runs when you click that button, on the SQL server, it takes <2 seconds to give me the results. I've been running FMS directly on the server to negate any silly business with client software, AV etc. Server has 4vCPU and 48GB ram (with 38GB set as max limit in SQL) and CPU usage hasn't been at 100% throughout the process, on Server 2019. Unfortunately there have been a host of changes that could be the cause, none of which are easy to undo and go back to test lol: Upgraded SQL 2016 to 2022 (Patched to CU20, and sims/fms both set to compatibility mode 2012) Migrated server from VMware to Hyper-V (VMware tools fully removed, and hidden devices removed from device manager) SIMS+FMS Summer build deployed Lastly I've ran the re-index patch for FMS but that made no difference. I've tried everything i can think of at this stage. I've sat and watched resource monitor for a while and i can't see anything struggling anywhere either.....
5nowman Posted August 14, 2025 Posted August 14, 2025 (edited) How does it work on the server? fast? We've had issues installing sims on server 2025. What Server os are you using? I am about to start throwing exclusion of folders and files on our Antivirus to see if that helps. As a worst case.. maybe uninstall AV to test it...... (this is what I am about to try). Same slowness on the server, Windows Server 2019, AV completely uninstalled to test (Defender already disabled as we use Sophos) All in all, not sure what else to try!

I just fixed my issue by uninstalling sophos lol Now I need to figure out exclusions on sophos central website. I suggest you do the same.. I am not sure which folders sims needs excluded ... workstations and server On mine I will be excluding the SQL folder on the server simsroot on server c:\ program files \ sims on clients I think Each to their own setup. You'll need to exclude the FMS folder too! sophos central should be simple enough. snowman
mrbios Posted August 15, 2025 Author Posted August 15, 2025 Had local SIMS support connect in, he change the SQL compatibility mode to 2022. Against everything i've ever read. Problem instantly resolved.... so i guess the old "set it to 2012" recommendation is no longer true if you're on SQL 2022! 1

That is very interesting, we are having real bad performance issues with SIMS and even though it is set, the first thing they checked was if SQL 2022 was set to 2012 compatibility mode, they still bark about it on the support docs for performance. The joys of SIMS, the sooner i can get the powers to move to Arbor the better. 1
