Bankesy Posted August 12, 2025 Posted August 12, 2025 Hi all, I have made what appears to be a very silly mistake when configuring Office deployment as part of the Windows 11 rollout, and selected the user option for licensing when configuring the XML instead of the shared computer option and now it has been deployed across the majority of devices and users are getting the licensing error about the device needing a license even though our licensing is user based. Thought it was worth asking on here about any potential quick fix before I resign myself to the fact that I will need to reconfigure and redeploy Office to devices. Thanks
chris_uk Posted August 12, 2025 Posted August 12, 2025 Create a new version of the XML with the updated information. Run setup.exe /download XMLFILE look at the version number of the most recent download, deploy to everywhere using the new version number as the success rule. You will also need to ensure that the deployment only happens when no user is logged in.
Bankesy Posted August 12, 2025 Author Posted August 12, 2025 @chris_uk Thanks, but I think I am a bit confused as to where this is getting me. I have the setup.exe and the XML in the MDT deployment share, and Office gets installed from that as part of the task sequence. I can't see anything relating to the version in the XML
