Help and advice on setting up cachepilot V4

Hi gang,

 

I'm in need of some help We took delivery of cachepilot V4 about 5 month ago and Its not been installed since the old NM left. I've been busy getting to know the network before I make any changes. The cachepilot been one of them and I've not installed one before I have put a couple of days aside to get it up and running.

 

Now I had some problems this morning getting the stupid thing to work with the limited useless instruction manual, but now I've hit a snag. I need to setup white and black lists for staff and student groups. I'm not sure how to go about doing this and would appreciate some help. Does anyone have an easy guide?

 

I am also wanting to implement active directory authentication, and a kind chap from the council emailed me the attached instruction manual on how to do this, but I'm already stuck with that. Can anyone make heads of tails on it and help me with that to.

right here is what I've done for students so far

 

I've created 2 sitelists for students

School blacklist 1

School blacklist 2

 

then I ticked a few boxes in the Block Global forbidden sites

 

adult

alcohol

auction

nudity

chat

discrim

personals

drugs

porn

schoolcheat

gambling

games

sex

gross

illega

swimsuit

tobacco

violence

lingerie

weapons

 

Ive added a few band sites to school black list 1 and 2

 

that done I then created a Group called 'Students' and set the following permissions

 

Users belonging to this group have access to the following services -

- email: Tick

- web: Tick

 

 

Web access rules

These rules apply in order, so the first rule to match the time-band and site list will cause the specified action.

 

Allow global permited sites - Always

Block school black list 1 - Always

Block school black list 1 - Always

Block Global forbidden sites - always

Allow all other sites

 

I then created a user called liam and added him to the 'Students' Group.

 

so I now do a test to see if facebook.com is banned and I get through to the site. So I decide to run a test on that url under 'Test Url Filtering and I get the following result.

Yeah that was my first thought so I tried again. but no luck. hmm this is begining to be a little frustrating
