Hi all, we're looking at migrating to Windows 11 using Intune rather than carrying on with our traditional AD/On prem server model.

I'd like to hear from anyone who has migrated their Secondary school over to In Tune. How did it go? How did you replace things like print servers, desktop monitoring software like impero, other software which depends on AD etc

Print servers things like papercut MF hosted in cloud or Papercut NG. We use Kyrocera cloud print here.

Desktop monitoring move to senso. Its very cheap compared to Impero and they just released a new version which fixes a few annoyances. Fully cloud.

In terms of intune, you can test any setup really in hybrid before moving.

Secondary here - been full Intune for 2-3 years.

We took a Cloud First with SaaS where possible, so we didn't do things like migrate our Papercut MF server to an Azure VM - in that example we moved to Uniflow online. However, we were unable to change our MIS in time so we have a work around solution for that, but it means that all end user devices are Intune and the 1 legacy solution we need to support is tightly integrated with 365 so staff can seamlessly sign in etc - but that is only a short term until we can move to a full cloud MIS. Take time to streamline and get rid of any legacy software (thinking science departments..) and push as much as you can to web apps where possible.

It has been pretty seamless for us - we use device policies as opposed to user policies. Accounts for things like computer science were a bit of a challenge but we've managed to streamline all of that utilising Senso cloud to lock down the device.

You could always look to take a phased approach, student devices first with staff after.
