ITGURU Posted April 28, 2025 Posted April 28, 2025 I've downloaded and run the adobe cleanup tool to remove all remains of old Adobe CS packages. However, although its removed the entry from programs and features, its still leaving content and .exe files behind in program files, so still being detected. What is the best way to entirely remove all the adobe parts as seems it doesnt cleanup fully? thanks.
Chuckster Posted May 2, 2025 Posted May 2, 2025 Run the below in VS Code or ISE and see if it actually outputs anything to do with Adobe. If it does, then it would suggest the clean-up tool isn't an effective job of tidying up after itself. You could create a .ps1 script that could run the tool followed by a manual clean-up of removing associated files and folders. I would use PSADT for this. <# .SYNOPSIS Return uninstall strings from the Windows registry to uninstall Win32 apps .NOTES Name: Get-UninstallStringInfo Author: Payton Flint Version: 1.0 DateCreated: 2023-Sep .LINK https://paytonflint.com/ #> function Get-UninstallStringInfo { param ( [string]$regPath32 = "HKLM:\Software\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\", [string]$regPath64 = "HKLM:\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\" ) # Get program information for both 32-bit and 64-bit registry paths $programInfo = @() foreach ($regPath in $regPath32, $regPath64) { $subkeys = Get-ChildItem -Path $regPath -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue foreach ($subkey in $subkeys) { $program = Get-ItemProperty -Path $subkey.PSPath -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue $dispName = $program.DisplayName $dispVersion = $program.DisplayVersion $publisher = $program.Publisher $uninstall = $program.UninstallString if ($null -ne $dispName -or $null -ne $dispVersionion -or $null -ne $publisher -or $null -ne $uninstall) { $programInfo += [PSCustomObject]@{ "DisplayName" = $dispName "DisplayVersion" = $dispVersion "Publisher" = $publisher "UninstallString" = $uninstall } } } } # Sort the program information by DisplayName $programInfo = $programInfo | Sort-Object DisplayName # Output the sorted programInfo array return $programInfo } Get-UninstallStringInfo
