Alis_Klar Posted April 10, 2025 Posted April 10, 2025 We have recently migrated to Bromcom and we are left with loads of duplicate parental contacts. This will cause massive issues with the app (MCAS). Bromcom have an article which basically tells you to do it manually. I would have thought they'd have a automated guesser and you could just made a judgement to speed things up. Other MIS's have this feature. Any third parties offering this service or can I export to a spreadsheet and re-import as an alternative?
dmj Posted April 11, 2025 Posted April 11, 2025 Isn't it part of the onboarding contract for Bromcom to do it? Last MIS migration we had contractors onsite supplied by the firm we were migrating to (not Bromcom) and they certainly did all this for us. Check the contract, it's probably something Bromcom could easily do.
pete Posted April 11, 2025 Posted April 11, 2025 ^Not in our experience, no. It was made clear that you need to sort out your data beforehand which (in SIMS as well) is a manual process. If you came from Integris (which is supposed to reconcile duplicate parental contacts in the background as an overnight, but doesn't), that's something your data manager and office staff should have been aware of before migrating (since they created the duplicate contacts in the first place).
CHiLL Posted April 11, 2025 Posted April 11, 2025 Our admin team had to manually deduplicate parental contacts a couple of years ago. It was a time consuming mess.
PotNoodleTech Posted April 11, 2025 Posted April 11, 2025 I guess you need to work out if the duplication existed in the previous system (I doubt it as you would have noticed having multiple wrong contacts) or if it happened during bromcoms migration period. If that's the case I would push for bromcom to fix it as they've obviously messed something up or imported something twice by accident?
localzuk Posted April 11, 2025 Posted April 11, 2025 From my experience of migrating to Bromcom at my prior job, this is very much a "get your data correct before migration" issue. Bromcom did not do data correction, matching or deduplication as far as I can remember, our data manager and admin team did. 1
Bromcom_John Posted April 11, 2025 Posted April 11, 2025 Hi @Alis_Klar, I assume that the below article is the one that you have been linked to https://docs.bromcom.com/knowledge-base/how-to-find-and-remove-duplicate-contact-records-from-others/ If not, then please go ahead and take the steps detailed. Otherwise, drop me a line off channel and I will see if there is any other actions that can be taken. It all very much depends on the scope of the data issue. 1
Alis_Klar Posted April 17, 2025 Author Posted April 17, 2025 (edited) I have voted for this feature on the ideas portal. It absolutely should be at least semi-automated and perfect for AI. Even if there was a report that helped with this rather than having two tabs open and jumping between them. Please vote here https://ideas.bromcomcloud.com/ideas/BRCM-I-1369 Edited April 17, 2025 by Alis_Klar 1
