Paxton Net2 Central Server

Hi folks,

For those that have centralised a Paxton server for their trust, how have you split up your individual schools within the system? Just door access groups or areas or something else?

We just have user and door groups. 

Salamander sets ours now though to make things easier to manage

Not in EDU, but manage several SMB's w/ multiple sites. The short answer in many ways depends on the license-tier of Net2 that you have.

If it's Lite - you're stuck w/ one server anyway (per-site). If it's Pro - I see value in having multiple servers (either, per-site or for replication purposes etc).

 

The controllers remember their settings if the server goes offline, so there's nothing to loose by having more than 1 (if on Pro). I'm pretty sure (unless using analogue-style Relays linked separately to Fire Alarm etc) that Net2 Pro is highly advised in Enterprise/EDU settings anyway for purposes like this.

 

Like anything - if you can provision extra servers for redundancy etc, it's worth it.
