Hi all, my day to day here at Bromcom is talking to schools who are looking to move MIS.
We go through their needs, present the product and have some quite detailed conversations around what it might look like to move.
Now, I very much doubt that any of my insights are going to be ground breaking or news to a large number of people on here but I and some of colleagues have decided to start sharing some high level insights and summarise, in very general terms, what these conversations have been covering.
If you get some insight out of this then my job is a bit more enriching. (Also, it might generate a bit more traffic to my Linkedin account!)

A lot of the conversations are not specifically limited to our own product and if I had to draw "one" single item out then this week it was transition planning.
So many schools are rightly worried, for a number of reasons, about what their move might look like.
How should they manage the change over
Are there any other considerations post move
Is this the right decision
Should we move now or wait until a bit more time has passed..

Anyway, link to my post below.

Nice summary, I enjoyed reading it and interesting what topics you're asked about from potential customers.

For us, we are just about to do our 5 year renewal with Bromcom (or move to another MIS). So going through the whole sales process again, but from a bit of a different point of view:

We've been asking these questions from all the suppliers:

- Parent app features and engagement

- Running Online Parent Evenings

- Timetabling software integration

- AI and chat bot integration

- Room bookings features

We are also still using 3rd party products for: Parents evenings, Trip management, HR, Finance and Room bookings so have been asking potential providers if they can match the features of those 3rd party systems yet. It looks like all the MIS providers have caught up a little, but are still lagging a bit behind in some areas. Bromcom has done well with HR, finance and the new timetabling features, but still lacks in room bookings, AI and parents evenings I think.

Its been an interesting journey. Great to see all the progress from Bromcom and other suppliers. The speed of innovation has been awesome with a competitive market finally.

One day I will finally have an MIS which doesn't need Add-ons and different logins. Maybe in the next 5 years...? :)

Thought I would show a similar aspect from the finance side of Bromcom.

Whilst we fast approach the End of the Financial Year school business managers can now start to take the time to reflect on the year passed, and look forward to year ahead and what matters to them and would the move to a fully integrated MIS and Finance software be the answer.

Here is what I have been discussing with schools over the last couple of weeks and like my colleague John, happy to chew things over or just leave it here for a good Friday afternoon read.
